Flexible Hours to Fit Around Family

Downsizing your life may mean that you can say goodbye to your full time job and work part time. Working flexible hours is another option that means you will be able to spend time with your family or concentrate on hobbies and other interests.
Changing Hours In Your Current Job
If you have a family and feel that your full time job is taking you away from your responsibilities speak to your boss about downsizing to part time work. You may be able to continue in your present position with a colleague taking on some of your duties. If you have family commitments the company you work for has to allow you the option to change your working hours to part time work.Job Share and Working From Home
You may be able to cut your working hours by sharing your job with another person. Either working alternate weeks or half days will give you more time with your family or other interests. When sharing a job with another person you must be able to be divide the duties in such a way that you each have responsibilities and cover all aspects of the job. With Internet connections, mobile telephones and home computers many jobs can now be done in part at home. Suggest to your boss that you work from home several days each week. By working from home you can spread the hours over the evening or weekend and free up time for other interests.
The All Important Job Search
It may be that when downsizing you have moved away from your home town to a new area. Perhaps you took early retirement and are now looking for a part time job to bring in an income. Your CV should be up to date and typed out clearly. Leave your details with employment agencies and check in with them every so often to remind them you are still job hunting.Review newspapers on the day they are published as jobs, particularly part time jobs are snapped up very quickly. These days many agencies advertise on line and have their own web sites. Check these several times each day and apply as soon as you spot a suitable vacancy.
If you are new to the area spend some time travelling around town centres and industrial areas looking out for companies that would possibly employ your skills or have a link to your hobbies and interests that would lead you into a new profession. Leave a cover letter and your CV with the HR department and hopefully they will be in touch with you.
